Worlds to Discover: Exploring Dwarf Planets, Mighty Moons, and the Outer Solar System

This talk will review the fascinating distant objects that planetary scientists and astronomers have been discovering and exploring in our Solar System. Real worlds that humans might one day walk upon - including the giant dwarf planets Ceres, and Pluto and its retinue of dance partners (soon to be imaged for the first time), warm saltwater oceans under Europa’s icy crust, geysers on Enceladus, Titan’s earth-like geography, and dozens of large objects in the distant Kuiper Belt.

March 20th (Friday)

Cancelled

 Dr. Brendan (Ben) Quine

Due to a pressing work-related issue and the ongoing choas at York University related to the strike, Dr. Quine's talk has been postoned and will be rescheduled for another date.

Our regrets for any inconvience this may cause.

Mars: Are we nearly there yet?

This talk will survey what we know about the red planet currently and describe the exploration activities that are planned. Current international endeavors will be examined. Canadian activities including the Northern Light mission will be highlighted. If and when humans might visit the planet will be discussed.
