So what do you do when you've got a giant rocket ready to launch but no payload? This apparently was the situation for NASA's Space Launch System team as they prepared for their maiden blast-off. Smart minds being what they are, the team opened up the faring availability. From this came the option for up to 13 CubeSats. Lockheed Martin, not being a slouch in anyway, offered SKYFIRE for free. This 6U CubeSat is destined to go to the Moon. There it will survey the landscape looking for water. Lochkeed Martin in exchange provides the data. Quite the amazing win-win scenario isn't it!
