Mr. Jimmy Hazin, M.Sc., BComm

Jimmy Hazin joined the Canadian Space Society (CSS) in 2012 as the co-founder and Chairman of CSS-Alberta. As a business strategist, Jimmy brings over 15 years experience in business planning, development and management experience to the CSS team. He has developed and led the implementation of strategic initiatives supporting government, not-for-profit, and private requirements and objectives.

As a civil servant with The City of Calgary, he has held the roles of Geocity Strategist (enterprise wide geomatics programs management), Project Specialist, and Leader of Transportation Asset Information and Mapping. Prior to joining The City, he was Vice President of Business Development to Turquoise Technology Solutions Inc. (renewable energy forecasting), Business Advisor and Management Consultant to Ark Envirotech Inc. (environmental health and safety management), and Account Manager and Training Consultant to Service Intelligence Inc. (market research program management for Fortune 1000 companies). He has also acted as a Projects Liaison Officer for the Space Generation Advisory Council.

Jimmy holds a Master of Science from the International Space University (ISU), a Bachelor of Commerce from the Haskayne School of Business, and is an ISU Summer Space Program graduate. At ISU, he was appointed as Project Manager of two interdisciplinary space research teams that published papers on the topics of space weather and wildfire mitigation. He also interned as a business planner at Excalibur Almaz Inc. (private space transportation and commercialization).
Jimmy’s career objective is to contribute to the success of initiatives that promote the accessibility, and utilization of outer space and related technologies for the betterment of humanity.

Ms. Chantelle Dubois

Chantelle Dubois was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba and is currently a student in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Manitoba. In 2013 she joined the University of Manitoba Space Applications and Technology Society (UMSATS), a student competition team which participates in the Canadian Satellite Design Challenge. In 2014, she became a member of the Space Generation Advisory Council, and in 2015 completed a 12-week internship in Vienna, Austria with the organization. Chantelle’s non-space interests include science communication/writing, food and hospitality, and is a recently certified SCUBA diver.
